HELEN HUNT NEWS AND TRIVIA
  • Hunt and beau Matthew Carnahan are expecting their first baby this summer. (February 3, 2004)
  • Hunt was among hundreds of celebrities who mobilized against a possible war in Iraq on Tuesday - they gathered to publicize a letter urging President Bush to avoid military action. (December 12, 2002)
  • Helen Hunt was injured while filming the scene in TWISTER (1996) where the truck drives through the corn when the door was forced back into her head. For later shots, the door was wedged open.
  • In order to get the background skies looking suitably stormy, the truck cab sequences had to be flooded with high intensity lighting for contrast. As a result, she and Bill Paxton suffered minor retinal burns through much of the TWISTER filming.
  • The scene towards the end in which Nick (Mel Gibson) visits Darcy (Helen Hunt) at her apartment in WHAT WOMEN WANT (2000) is similar to a scene in AS GOOD AS IT GETS. In both movies Hunt's character is at the top of the stairs and her love interest (Gibson or Nicholson) approaches her and says, I had to see you.
  • (TWISTER) The scene where she and Bill Paxton drive through a toppled house was shot at Owen Field at the University of Oklahoma campus.
  • In 1985 she stopped eating red meat, but 15 years later a friend ordered a cheeseburger, she took a bite, and now she eats burgers daily.
